MegaWord
A new game for a classic console. An interactive website to match.
MegaWord is a retro word puzzle game built by Little Thunder’s Tim for the Sega Mega Drive and Genesis (yes, it's 2026 and you read that right). We designed and built a website that brings its 16-bit world into the browser, with letter tiles that flip on hover, playful details and a 3D console sequence that puts the cartridge centre stage.
Dust off the console. Insert cartridge.
The hardware section turns a familiar ritual into a moment of discovery. As you scroll, a 3D cartridge rotates and drops into the console, before the scene settles into a close-up of the cartridge in place. It is a small celebration of the machine MegaWord was made for.

Twelve worlds. Plenty to explore.
A rotating gallery lets visitors spin through all twelve of MegaWord’s worlds, from palm-lined shores to deep space. The website carries the game’s visual language throughout, with pixel typography, glowing controls and letter-by-letter reveals.
More to discover between games.
A custom music player gives the game’s four original tracks a home on the web, complete with a sound-test display and animated equaliser. Global leaderboards connect the console game to its players online. Together, these details make the website somewhere to explore, listen and return to.
